What is the difference between a silicone and a plastic case?

A silicone case is soft and flexible, and it absorbs impact well. It grips in the hand, but it collects dust and yellows over time. A hard plastic (PC) case is thin and easy to keep clean, but it does not give under impact. For most people a TPU or hybrid case is the better compromise — it combines both.

How do I choose the right case?

Choose for the way you actually use the phone: if you drop it often, take a rugged case; if you want to keep the phone slim, TPU or silicone is enough; if you want to carry cards, pick a wallet case. Above all, check that the case is made for your exact phone model.

Does a case protect against drops?

Yes, though how much depends on the type. A thin silicone case keeps scratches away and helps with low falls. Rugged cases such as UAG or Spigen Tough Armor are drop-tested from 2–3 metres and give the most protection.

Why does a clear silicone case turn yellow?

UV light and the natural oils on your skin cause it. It is normal and cannot be prevented entirely. Tip: a darker colour or a clear TPU case yellows far less visibly.

Speck Presidio2 Grip 150340-9974 is a Coastal Blue / Black fitted protective case made specifically for Samsung Galaxy S23+. A slim hybrid body combines a soft-touch exterior, inverted non-slip grip pattern, responsive button covers, raised screen edge and Armor Cloud air capsules around the perimeter.

Armor Cloud capsules are designed to compress on impact and cushion the phone. Speck states protection in controlled drops from up to 13 ft, approximately 4 m; the result does not mean the phone or case will remain undamaged in every fall, because angle, surface, repeated impacts, wear and correct fit matter.
The inverted grip pattern and soft-touch finish are intended to improve hand contact while typing or taking photos. Grip still depends on dry, clean hands, gloves and movement; hold the phone securely and do not treat the texture as fall prevention. Oils and abrasion can alter the finish over time.
The built-in antimicrobial treatment is intended to reduce bacterial growth on the case surface. It does not protect the user or phone, sterilise the case or replace routine cleaning. Use mild soap and water, dry fully and avoid solvents, bleach or abrasive tools.
The raised edge reduces direct screen contact on a flat surface, but a separate screen or camera protector is not built in. Model-specific openings preserve normal access to cameras, speakers and USB-C; the case fits Galaxy S23+ only, not Galaxy S23 or S23 Ultra.
The slim body supports ordinary compatible Qi wireless charging when properly fitted. Charging speed and heat depend on the phone, charger and any object between them; remove cards and metal pieces, align carefully and stop if unusual heat occurs. Inspect the corners after a hard impact and replace a cracked or loose case.
