What is the difference between a silicone and a plastic case?

A silicone case is soft and flexible, and it absorbs impact well. It grips in the hand, but it collects dust and yellows over time. A hard plastic (PC) case is thin and easy to keep clean, but it does not give under impact. For most people a TPU or hybrid case is the better compromise — it combines both.

How do I choose the right case?

Choose for the way you actually use the phone: if you drop it often, take a rugged case; if you want to keep the phone slim, TPU or silicone is enough; if you want to carry cards, pick a wallet case. Above all, check that the case is made for your exact phone model.

Does a case protect against drops?

Yes, though how much depends on the type. A thin silicone case keeps scratches away and helps with low falls. Rugged cases such as UAG or Spigen Tough Armor are drop-tested from 2–3 metres and give the most protection.

Why does a clear silicone case turn yellow?

UV light and the natural oils on your skin cause it. It is normal and cannot be prevented entirely. Tip: a darker colour or a clear TPU case yellows far less visibly.

Speck Balance Folio 150226-D143 is a black-and-white protective folio made for the 11-inch iPad (A16, 11th generation, 2025) and the 10.9-inch iPad (10th generation, 2022). Its folding cover protects the display in transit and converts into viewing and typing stands.

Multi-layer construction and raised screen edges help protect the tablet from everyday knocks and contact with flat surfaces. No case can prevent every breakage, so inspect both case and iPad after a hard impact and avoid carrying them with loose sharp objects.
The cover provides several stand positions and a secure closure. Its magnets support automatic screen wake and sleep on compatible iPad settings; the exact response can vary with alignment, device configuration and third-party accessories.
An integrated channel stores a compatible Apple Pencil, while a sliding camera cover can cover the rear lens when it is not in use. Check that the cover is fully open before taking photographs and that the chosen Pencil or adapter fits the storage area.
Microban treatment is built into the treated case surface. The manufacturer states that it can reduce bacterial growth there by up to 99%; it does not protect the user, disinfect the iPad or replace regular cleaning of the case and device.
