What is the difference between a silicone and a plastic case?

A silicone case is soft and flexible, and it absorbs impact well. It grips in the hand, but it collects dust and yellows over time. A hard plastic (PC) case is thin and easy to keep clean, but it does not give under impact. For most people a TPU or hybrid case is the better compromise — it combines both.

How do I choose the right case?

Choose for the way you actually use the phone: if you drop it often, take a rugged case; if you want to keep the phone slim, TPU or silicone is enough; if you want to carry cards, pick a wallet case. Above all, check that the case is made for your exact phone model.

Does a case protect against drops?

Yes, though how much depends on the type. A thin silicone case keeps scratches away and helps with low falls. Rugged cases such as UAG or Spigen Tough Armor are drop-tested from 2–3 metres and give the most protection.

Why does a clear silicone case turn yellow?

UV light and the natural oils on your skin cause it. It is normal and cannot be prevented entirely. Tip: a darker colour or a clear TPU case yellows far less visibly.

Description

The reinforced Raptic X-Doria Secure case uses flexible TPU and EcoElement material. Textured sides improve grip, while internal air pockets help disperse part of the energy from everyday impacts. Raised rims reduce contact between flat surfaces and the screen or camera, and precise openings preserve access to the phone's buttons and ports. A built-in magnetic ring supports MagSafe wireless charging, compatible stands and magnetic mounts without removing the case. The manufacturer states that recycled materials are used, describes the case and packaging as biodegradable, and describes the production cycle and components as carbon-neutral.
